Terra Cafe

Terra Cafe is a strange place. It was started by one girl (or so I've heard) at RPI a few years ago -- it's a little restaurant that only serves food Wednesdays from 11:30 to 1:30, and they use all natural and local ingredients (or so I've heard). Bean and I went there this morning, and although it was delicious, it way too filling for breakfast. But! Everything was scrumptious. We started with coffee.

There are only two menu choices each week; one meat and one vegetarian. Simon got chicken parmesan, and I got eggplant. For dessert there was a frosted sugar cookie shaped like a bunny (or, in our waiter's words, a molar).

This place is just such a wonderfully un-ordinary thing to have at RPI.

Flavour Cafe, Troy NY

We walked around outside today for too long, taking pictures of a beautiful girl's boarding school in Troy (Emma Willard), and our hands were numb and freezing. The only solution, of course, was hot hot coffee, which we found at Flavour Cafe & Lounge downtown. Bean got almond biscotti, which was pretty, and we sat and watched the people around us studiously working.

Mocha Blend

Here in Troy, there is a little cafe called Mocha Blend. Sometimes, upon waking, Bean and I can hear it calling to us faintly, from where it waits squeezed in between the Pricechopper and Insurance Agency. An unlikely place for a quaint little warm-colored breakfast, but it is always a delicious one. Although their breakfast selections are limited (they are far better equipped for lunch), the egg-and-cheese on a croissant is the tastiest thing on this earth. It is perfectly cooked every time, flaky and crisp and tender all at once and in all the right places.

Also, their coffees are gigantic, which will make me love any place. Even the crumbs look good...
