Striped Bass Sandwich
Bean's Father called to ask if we wanted fresh fish; he'd caught two huge striped bass off of Plum Island that very day.
Bean said (he is not a seafood lover, my man...), "...well, Boodle would love some."
So we picked up a serving-sized fillet just for me!
And so, I proposed to grill it. Topped with parsley and chives and olive oil; flip after 4 minutes and again after 4 minutes, and then remove soon after.
I do not know the exact time -- I waited until the inside, with the tiniest slit, was white instead of pink.
And it came out, somehow, perfect.

Tiny Apple
It's the eve of apple season! On a stroll, I found a tree so laden with apple babies that I am a'feared it will knock itself down in the coming weeks.
But I sampled one, and the cherry-tomato-sized apples were wondrous. Not unbearably sour, as a usual unripe apple! So I am sticking some in my lunch for tomorrow.
And dinner tonight:
Individual mushroom and cherry tomato pizzas on Ciabatta rolls, with goat cheese. The crumbled cheese adds simply the most glorious tang to the whole meal, and I can't describe how satisfying it was!

Homemade Lobster Roll
No mayo or limp hotdog roll involved:
portuguese sandwich roll
grey poupon mustard
asparagus
spinach
lobster claw & tail meat
It was so much fresher than I would have imagined!
Here it lies, half-defrosted lobster:

Lull Farm -- Greens
On a mission to buy cucumber plants last weekend, I bought a bag of their (mixed):
kale
collard greens
swisschard
and I have been using it for every meal since. So for work-lunch, I made a sandwich with:
Lull Farm greens mix
mushroom
Grey Poupon mustard
scallions
fresh-baked saloio roll (Hannaford)
And it will hopefully be as scrumptious as it looked.

Prosciutto & Cheddar
When I first moved in, there seemed to be interesting deli meats in the refrigerator at all times, and I could sample of them at will for my lunches. But lately, there's been a lack of that! And normally I would be content concocting a delicious sandwich of mushrooms, kimchi, mustard, spinach, broccoli, cabbage.......whatever I could find; it would be delicious as long as it was on good bread.
But lately, since I've been training for a half-marathon, I need a bit more stuff in my sandwich. The other day I bought this prosciutto, pre-sliced and hard-as-hell to work with. It adds a deliciously salty kick, and tastes strangely (since it's pork) of seafood, which of course I enjoy fully.
This one had:
deli roll ($0.79)
prosciutto
Vermont cheddar cheese
sliced mushrooms
scallions
multitudes of spinach

Sourdough & Asparagus
Simes got up when I left for work to prepare a batch of delectable sourdough. This he split into two parts; one for a loaf of bread, and one for a mound of pizza dough. Do you know what this means?
Dinner and lunch!
A (presumably) delicious sandwich for work tomorrow:
Spinach
Asparagus
Assorted mushrooms
Provolone cheese
And a pizza for dinner with the same ingredients; substitute Parmesan for the provolone. There's something inexplicably delectable about a hint of Parmesan cheese; so strong but often a bystander to the main event.
Both sound simple, but the bread is so sour they will undoubtedly be scrumptious.

Sushi from Dani!
Being her usual generous self, Dani had promised to bring in sushi today after her birthday Monday off. Would she deliver? I fervently hoped so, as I had managed to leave both wallet and phone at home.
And she did -- pollock maki rolls with a tiny container of soy sauce to boot. Thank you!!
Although I would take a slab o' raw fish any day...

Michael's Market
A place I frequent on workdays when I have forgotten to pack lunch. They have adorable soup packaging, some tasty sandwiches, and beautiful chocolate cake...

And now lunch is fun...
Actually, I've always loved packing my lunches. This box, though, makes me feel at once creative but constrained, and therefore much joy has been had making lunch for the past three days.
Tomorrow's has:
A wrap made of:
- Lavash bread
- mozzarella cheese
- mortadella deli meat
- spinach
- spicy brown mustard
A stirfry made of:
- sliced tomato
- sliced mushroom
- spinach
- soy sauce
- wasabi
- lil' bit of teriyaki sauce
With cucumbers and strawberry thrown in to fill in the spaces. It's like real-life tetris, packing this thing. :D

Bento Box!
I bought a Bento box for $3.00 online the other day. I've taken to packing my lunches (sandwiches, veggies, fruit, leftovers, nuts, etc.) very tightly in a single container to conserve space, and lately the idea of the Bento box has been intensely intriguing. This one is small; 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 3 1/2", but you can stuff a pretty good amount of food in there.
My lunch for tomorrow:
1/4 leftover pesto pizza
garlic-stuffed olives
spinach / green beans
mango pieces
raisins
HEALTHY? TRU DAT!

Good eggs are better than bad eggs.

I walked home from class, disproportionately weak from hunger, daydreaming about delicious foods with which to fill myself for lunch. When I got home, I realized I had a whole head of fresh, bright-green broccoli to use up.
I put about 2 cups of broccoli on to steam while I scrambled up 2 eggs in a bowl with some milk, salt and pepper. Cooked those; threw in some feta cheese and a diced mushroom, and added the still-crisp broccoli.
And then wolfed that baby down! It's amazing how much fresh vegetables make you feel good.
